Position Summary

The full-time contractor role Director of Digital Services will lead the services definition, launch, and business management of SMART USA’s service offerings associated with the SMART USA Digital Backbone platform.

The platform is a core part of SMART USA’s infrastructure to drive innovation across the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. It will serve as a secure, trustworthy environment where manufacturers, tool developers, and ecosystem partners can build, test, validate, and deploy digital twins and related assets in the semiconductor manufacturing space. The platform will enable secure collaboration and deployment of digital twins and related assets, fostering a trusted environment for manufacturers, tool developers, and ecosystem partners.

This leadership role will define the services’ vision, strategy, and innovations to deliver measurable value to members and stakeholders in the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. This person will lead the market analysis, engage potential users, define market requirements, develop the business plan, and manage the platform. Additionally, the role is accountable for guiding development and launching the platform as a service.

Duties & Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Define outside-in-member and market requirements through market research, interviews with members, and assessment of industry trends.
  • Partner with the development team to define and prioritize the platform’s features and functionality, and incorporate those into a strategic product roadmap
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business case and monetization strategy that aligns with SMART USA’s objectives, inclusive of pricing models and customer value propositions for different offerings.
  • Lead, develop and execute go-to-market initiatives in partnership with the SMART USA communications, business development and commercialization teams.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with members, software companies, tool providers and other digital twin ecosystem players to enhance backbone capabilities and services.
  • Oversee and improve platform services after launch, including managing updates, adding new features, and ensuring ongoing enhancements.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics to assess the success of the offerings to develop data-driven recommendations for improvements and changes
  • Conduct financial forecasting, demand planning, and cost modeling to support the growth of the platform and ecosystem
  • Assess the competitive landscape to refine market positioning and inform product strategy.
  • Represent and communicate the platform at industry events to build awareness and interest to make it the gold standard for digital twin development within the semiconductor industry.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education

  • 10+ years of experience in product management or platform development, with a focus on enterprise software.
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in building and scaling enterprise SaaS, AI/ML, or industrial software platforms.
  • Enterprise-grade MLOps/LLMOps platform and cloud-native data/AI integration environment operational experience.
  • Experience with advanced computing environments, including high-performance computing (HPC), edge computing, and hybrid cloud architectures for simulation and validation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a history of collaborating with external technical partners, customers, and industry consortia.
  • Strategic product leadership, including data-driven roadmap development, feature prioritization, and lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional programs across geographically distributed and matrixed teams, aligning diverse stakeholders around a shared vision.
  • Successful go-to-market execution in technology-driven environments, including launch planning and adoption strategies.
  • Strong expertise in monetization models, including subscription, consumption-based, and value-based pricing strategies.
  • Business planning capabilities, including revenue forecasting, cost modeling, ROI analysis, and competitive market assessments.
  • Customer-centric mindset, with a commitment to delivering measurable value and user satisfaction.

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Executive-level experience (VP/CPO) in platform strategy and development.
  • Semiconductor or manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with digital twin technologies and industrial data ecosystems.
  • Experience with developer ecosystem enablement (APIs, SDKs, partner programs).
  • Knowledge of interoperability and cybersecurity standards relevant to manufacturing (OPCUA, ISO 23247, DTDL, NIST, IEC 62443, etc.).
